Benguet overview

Benguet Travel Guide
At 5,000 feet above sea level, the province of Benguet is nestled on top of the Cordillera Mountains. In the middle of these peaks is a wide plateau where Benguet’s capital town La Trinidad is located. Despite the small town’s close proximity to the touristy city of Baguio, La Trinidad remains a quite place still unexplored by many. La Trinidad residents, particularly those living in remote areas, are still very traditional so tourists should check their manners when travelling to highland villages. When photographing, always keep in mind that some natives are still conservative and superstitious of cameras. As general rule: always ask when taking pictures of people. If permission is denied, don’t try to insist or steal a shot, or else they will curse you in their Martian-like language. However, several old people in tribal costume are now willing to have their picture taken. And in the end, they will be asking for a few bucks from you in exchange.
